Home sweet home

Thank you to everyone for your kind words and support.  It means the world to me to know that there are those out there who care about this little girl.

Larkin is feeling much better.  She spent the night in the hospital with an IV going.  She has a cold and a barking cough but she stopped throwing up and is sleeping well.  Even though we were there for 24 hours – it still felt like a week.   This time I made the right decision to take her in right away and 24 hours vs our normal 10 day stay – made it all worthwhile.   I think next time we will go to the ED and per a fix I have put in place, maybe we can just get the fluids and go home in 4-6 hours.  If I stay calm and persistent – then it all works out.  I can usually manage both of those things when it comes to her.

Today I called our pediatrician and asked him to write a note in L’s chart that says “Mom isn’t making this stuff up”.  He agreed with me and the fix is in place for the next time.  And we all know there will be a “next time”.   I think he might have written something a little more medical sounding but at least the bottom line is there.  PAY ATTENTION TO MOM!

Tomorrow is our transition meeting with Unit 4 for Larkin to begin school on her birthday.  I have my list.  I have my thoughts.  I have my goal.  Hopefully it will all go well and I’ll post tomorrow on how it goes.

Hey girl, I’m so glad you’re home and Larkin’s doing well. I was so out of it with no internet for a week!! I hope your pediatrician really did put in a very obvious note stating that you know your stuff and that they should start by asking what you think. :o)

Glad to hear Miss L is home! Good idea about the standing order that the doctor should listen to her Mom, who knows the most about her and her condition. Grrrrr! We had to do that for Lindsay when the doctors wouldn’t listen to me. For awhile there I was just taking her in tp her peds office every Friday for a checkup “just in case” she might need something over the weekend. 2 Friday night ER visits were enough for me!!! Thinking good thoughts for you and your girl!

Your courage and persistance in dealing with health care robots is truly inspiring. Stand your ground and know that you are her “champion” and the only one that deserves the title…rock on

Glad you guys are home! How the heck is Larkin almost old enough to be going to school? Where did time go? Sheesh. Good luck. I’m anxious to hear how it goes.

I am so glad you both are home now!! Good luck with your transition meeting. It was always hard for me after I left those meetings with the standardized testing and seeing where Marcus fell short. I will be thinking of you all!!! Hugs from the Bates family
